We have received this via Stirling Council:

Hi, I’m Elaine, Scottish Engagement Officer for Re-engage, a charity dedicated to preventing and reducing loneliness in people aged 70+*.  Lovely to ‘meet’ you! I live in Stirlingshire and am currently focusing on Stirling and Clackmannanshire. One of our services that may be of interest is Call Companions – a free telephone befriending service that matches older people with a trained volunteer for regular friendship calls. We also offer an  LGBT+ Call Companions service.

Calls take place weekly for around 30 minutes and can provide valuable social connection and companionship for older people who may be feeling isolated or lonely, or who wish to stay connected and prevent loneliness.

Referrals are simple and can be made by the older person themselves, a family member, friend, or professional. We currently have volunteers ready and waiting, so people can usually be matched and start receiving calls quickly.  I’ve attached a poster with more information. Click here for the poster

Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to know more or discuss a referral.  Thanks so much, Elaine

*(strictly speaking Over 75s but I can help you on-board anyone age 70-75)
