Notification of Site Meeting to Discuss Proposed Zebra Crossing on Pullar Avenue
Stirling Council are arranging a site meeting to discuss the introduction of the proposed zebra crossing on Pullar Avenue, Bridge of Allan and would welcome the attendance of any interested parties. Details of the meeting are below:
Date of meeting: Thursday 9th October Time: 10 am
Location: Pullar Avenue outside the school.
Key Question
Why has the original agreed proposal which was scheduled to start 18 Months ago been discarded without further consultation and apparent no consideration of the key Pupil Safety elements of the original agreed sight i.e historic travel routes
The vast majority of pupils and parents who cross the road in the area between corners of Pullar avenue / Carlie Avenue and Pullar Avenue/ Hume Crescent do so at the Carlie Avenue side so siting the crossing closest to there is the best solution as people will cross at first available point and not walk further to cross the road further up. It is also next to where the patrol crossing attendants have stood, successfully for decades
You are absolutely correct and this route is called “The Desire” line in technical terms and the safest option !! and also the key consideration in original design !
It seems sensible to have a crossing close to the school. No one wants a child to have an accident and some drivers don’t take as much care as they should.
