The Ivy (ex Eagleton Hotel) Henderson Street.
I find it quite disgraceful that the owners of this property are deliberately vandalising the building, new windows are being smashed every week and the front velux window has been deliberately left open to allow the water to saturate the building! There is talk in the town that this is a deliberate ploy to deem the building unsafe, with a view to demolition (along with the adjacent building which is unsafe) with the hope of gaining planning for a massive block of flats. I am firmly in belief that this local talk/chat/gossip is 100% correct!
I am no legal expert but I wonder if there is a law which makes it a criminal offence to vandalise a building, even if you are the owner!
Perhaps the police should be making enquiries into the smashed windows, asking why the windows are smashed and not boarded up!
Could you please advise online what steps the CC is taking regarding this matter!
Hi there,
Many thanks for your communication which I will pass on to my colleagues. We too are concerned about the buildings running into disrepair although not sure what action we can take to stop it.
Regards,
Michael
