Tree Monitoring and Planting Prep Volunteer Day, Fri 28 November, 10am-3pm
During this volunteer day we will be monitoring trees planted as part of a project with the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh. This will involve weeding around the trees, checking the condition of the tree and recording if the trees are dead / alive and measuring their height etc. We will also be preparing some planting spots that will be used when local primary school pupils come to plant trees the following week. This would involve using spades and mattocks to remove the grass and loosen the soil. The volunteer day will run from 10am-3pm and the day will involve manual handling, tool use and walking on rough, uneven ground. If you would like to come along, please visit our website for more information and to sign up: edin.ac/fpp-volunteer
These will be our last activities for the year and volunteering will resume towards the end of winter / early spring. We will have lots more volunteer days in 2026 including tree planting, biodiversity surveys, path maintenance and wildflower planting. If you have any questions, just get in touch.
