As we prepare for the short term closure of the local co-op in Bridge of Allan we want to make sure residents have access to all useful information in one place.
As you know, a new store is being developed for opening in 2026 and there are a few things that have to happen to make that possible.
- Saturday 9 August – Co-op store, cash machine and car park close
- Monday 11 August – work begins on the temporary store and Keir St will close to allow for a drainage connection
- Tuesday 26 August – likely pavement closure for BT Openreach works
- Monday 8 September – main work begins
- Early October – temp store, and cash machine, open for the period of the new build
- Spring 2026 – New Store open and parking spaces reopened
We know some residents are worried about shopping during the 6-8 weeks that the store is fully closed. However local shops and businesses have rallied round to make sure most supplies are available in the village. To top up on shopping you can pop in to:
- Allanwater Papers
- Baynes
- Bridge of Allan Hardware
- Cullen’s Butchers
- Strathallan Pharmacy
Stirling food train have also confirmed they’ll be on hand to assist any residents who can’t get to the shops. you can get in touch with them on 01786 450536 to talk about the support they offer.
if you need more help or are looking for some advice both Bridge of Allan Parish Church and St Saviour’s are available to talk through options, as well as the Community Council.

Hi Amanda.
I will copy the page and place in my window at Funeralcare for those who don’t have access to social media. Hope this helps.
Can we persuade the COOP to include a post office in their new store? At leastafaciltysimilartothatin the casuewayhead Coop?
I don’t wish to seem unreasonable, but why didn’t they set up the temporary store in advance of closure. Two months without a cash machine is totally unacceptable.
Is there anybody who still delivers milk?
Re the temp store I assume it has to go on the site of the old one to leave plenty space for building the new one.
Re milk delivery. McQueen dairy delivers milk in glass bottles.
It works out at almost £1.50 a pint
Will the bottom car park also be closed?
The operation of new car parks are still to be clarified, but the whole car park at the coop is now closed and will remain closed until the new store is ready.
