Mine Woods - Update.

posted 19 Sep 2012, 11:12 by Communications TEAM
The Community Council meeting on the 18th September was well attended by members of the the community and the discussion included the Mine Woods.  The Community Council noted and welcomed the recent decision by Stirling Council to withdraw their proposal to lease out part of the Mine Woods as a "woodlot".  The Community Council recognise the need for sustainable management of the Mine Woods going forward and agreed to develop options for a community/Stirling Council partnership approach.  The Community Council agreed to form a subgroup led by community councillor Deborah Wood.  This subgroup will explore possible options and take them to Stirling Council for consideration.  These options will draw from existing examples of good practice and the work of the Community Woodlands Association, as highlighted by Councillor Ruskell who attended the Community Council meeting.   Are you interested in engaging with this work?  If so please contact us.
