Join Countryside Rangers to improve Mine Woods

Stirling Council Countryside Service is looking for volunteers to join in a Community Action Day on Wednesday 13, June in Bridge of Allan’s Mine Woods.

Claire Bird, Area Countryside Ranger said: “This very popular woodland has lots of different visitors and the work on the day will reflect that with some heavy work and some lighter, easier jobs for different ages and abilities.  There is a variety of work to be tackled, from shoring-up a path to clearing steps and ditches, picking litter and clearing back vegetation.”

“The start time for the day is 10am, though I realise that the people may want to go and see the Olympic torch which is going through Bridge of Allan that morning so we will be flexible.”

The Countryside Rangers will supply all the tools and some light refreshments if people can come appropriately dressed for a day working in the woods - and don’t forget a packed lunch if you’re staying for the day.

Booking is essential - call 08452 777 000 or e-mail for further information and to book.
