Brown Bin Collection to Stop on 20th September for the Winter

posted 11 Sep 2013, 09:24 by Joanne Green
Stirling Council has advised us that brown bin collections will stop for the winter on Friday 20th September.  Residents should receive a letter this week about this.  This has apparently been caused as a result of the industrial action at Stirling Council.  This is disappointing news and the Community Council recognise that many residents will have concerns about this.

The advice we have received from Stirling Council is that if your brown bin has not been collected by 20th September to leave it safely in the usual place and the Council will do their best to collect it in the following 2 weeks.  The Council has also advised that here are two ways the Council  can still help you deal with garden waste. These are:

Home composting – free home compost bins are available at Lower Polmaise, Fallin, FK7 7FG. Advice on home composting is available on Stirling Council's website.

Recycling centres – Garden waste can be taken to Lower Polmaise Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) seven days a week from 08:30 until 18:30 (last entry 18:15); and to the HWRCs in Callander and Balfron, open Monday through Friday 17:00 - 20:00 and Saturday 10:00 - 14:00. (Note that, although we will try to avoid it, the industrial action may require a HWRC to close at short notice).   Th Council has also advised that whichever option you choose, you should not put garden waste or recyclables in your grey bin.
