Blog Post - A New Dawn...

posted 23 Jul 2015, 03:00 by Communications TEAM
This is the first of what I hope will be a regular blog from Bridge of Allan Community Council. We had our AGM back in May and new office bearers were elected. Douglas Dodds is now in the Chair, taking over from Jo Green. Douglas brings a passion and enthusiasm for all things ‘BofA’. He can be seen out come rain or shine with his dog around the village. He loves chatting with the residents and local business folks about issues concerning the area, or just passing the time of day. If you see out and about, stop and say hello.

I have stepped into the role of Secretary. Big shoes to fill as our previous Secretary, Janie, kept the rest organised with a calm efficiency I can only hope to emulate. Kirsten McDougall returns as our Treasurer, making sure we remain solvent and offering sound advice on all money matters relating to the Community Council.
Every member of the Community Council plays an important part. We all take our roles very seriously and are committed to promoting the well being and resilience of our community. We have big challenges ahead; representing the views of the community on such issues as development of land at Airthrey Kerse and Park of Keir, the introduction of new businesses to our main street and helping with the formation of a Flood Forum to work with Stirling Council to plan flood prevention strategies to protect our village, all of which remain emotive issues in our village.

We are also excited this year to be working with the Visit Bridge of Allan Association on a “Light up Bridge of Allan” campaign – bringing some traditional Christmas cheer to Henderson Street – watch this space!
Most importantly we want to engage with the public. Tell us what is important to you about Bridge of Allan? Tell us how you want to get involved in the community? We would love to hear from like minded individuals who are passionate about Bridge of Allan and want to make sure it retains its unique character. You can email us atcontact@ccbridgeofallan.org.uk, visit our facebook page or tweet us at @ccbridgeofallan. Alternatively, our next meeting is Tuesday 18th August 2015, 7.30pm in the Allan Centre, we would love for you to join us.

Ailsa McLeod
Secretary – Bridge of Allan Community Council
