Sport skills classes for kids

Sport skills classes for kids

Sport skills classes are being run by Coach my Sport at Bridge of Allan Tennis Club.

Coach my Sport MultiSkillZ classes are delivered in an active, fun and engaging way through appropriate challenges.  Every activity has a purpose to it. Building up motor skills from a basic level and support ongoing development. Coach My Sport is offering children an opportunity to play sport in a non-competitive environment, learning new skills and developing new friendships. If at a later stage the children want to play competitive sport they will be in a great position having learnt all the basics plus have solid motor development.

Classes run Mondays during term time 10am-10.45, and 11am -11.45.

Join the Community Council

Join the Community Council

Bridge of Allan Community Council are recruiting.  We are looking for two new members to join the Community Council as co-opted members until full elections are held in 2023.

We have been actively working on many different community projects and initiatives, so it is more important than ever that all sections and voices of Bridge of Allan are represented on the Community Council. We are particularly looking for people with skills in communications, social media and web content creation.  The role involves keeping up to date with community issues raised, working together to find solutions and helping communicate resident’s views to local organisation such as Stirling Council, Network Rail, developers and businesses.   We have 10 meetings a year usually held at the Allan Centre, however at the moment these are held online using Zoom.

To see what we have been working on recently you can look at past meeting minutes and our Facebook page.  To find out more about community councils and how they are run see here.

How to Apply

You can put yourself forward if you live in the Bridge of Allan area, are over 16, and are on the electoral register.  To nominate yourself you should complete this Co-option Nomination form and return it to contact@ccbridgeofallan.org.uk

Successful Nominations will then be approved at our next meeting.  Although there are only 2 spaces for Co-opted members on the Council, we can also appoint associate members who help us with specific issues such as planning applications, youth events or business for example.  See more here about different types of membership.

Travel Survey Open – suggestions include closing BofA train station

Travel Survey Open – suggestions include closing BofA train station

A new Travel Survey from Stirling Council is looking for your views.  One of the proposals includes the closure of Bridge of Allan train station so it is important to take a look.

As a response to the climate emergency and in support of economic development planning, Stirling Council are carrying out research on our travel and transport infrastructure and our needs now and into the future. Along with TACtran, the regional transport body, they have been working on a study looking at ways to make it easier to get to jobs, services and opportunities both in Stirling City and places like Glasgow and Edinburgh without needing to travel by car. Along with walking and cycling improvement programmes such as Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling and City Centre South, they are looking at longer distance bus and rail connections, and the Park & Ride/Park & Choose provision.

As part of this they talked to stakeholders including community councils and transport operators, about what developments might solve the problems, and a total of 99 suggestions came out of this. A high level assessment of these options was undertaken against criteria including environment, economy, safety, integration, accessibility/social inclusion, as well as their feasibility, affordability and public acceptability. This led to ten options which were then considered more closely.

More detail on these options is available in the link below. Significantly, one of the options impacts directly on the services provided for the community of Bridge of Allan, namely for a new rail station between Bridge of Allan, Causewayhead and Cornton. Because there would be two stations close together there are two sub-options

– A new rail station between Bridge of Allan, Causewayhead and Cornton keeping the Bridge of Allan Station

-A new station between Bridge of Allan, Causewayhead and Cornton with the closure of the Bridge of Allan Station

Please complete the Survey to ensure your needs are considered. The DEADLINE for the Survey is 3rd January, 2022.
